Renters’ Rights Act introduced from 1 May 2026
The law is finally changing for the private rented sector with the Renters’ Rights Act and the government has announced the implementation timeline to ‘switch on’ the new law.
The new tenancy rules, including the end of Section 21 and fixed-term tenancies, will be introduced on 1 May 2026. Learn more about the changes you can expect next year and how they may benefit you in our blog post.
Crisis at Christmas Day Centres
At Crisis day centres, you’ll find hot meals, companionship and support over Christmas. The centres are a safe, warm and lively places, run by caring a friendly volunteers.
The Day Centres are located at:
- Paddington Day Centre, City of Westminster College, W2 1NB
- Stratford Day Centre, School 21, E15 4RZ
- Pimlico Day Centre, Pimlico Academy, SW1V 3AT
- Please note that Bermondsey Day Centre is now closed.
Centres will be open 10am-5pm from 24 December to 28 December 2025.
Citizens Advice Southwark festive opening hours
Citizens Advice Southwark will have reduced operating hours over the festive period. You can still access support via:
- 24 December: Telephone advice only
- 25-26 December: Closed
- 29-31 December: Telephone advice only
- 1 January: Closed
- 2 January: Peckham drop-in and telephone advice
- 5 January: Normal operations

SHAPE organising meeting
Southwark Housing and Planning Emergency is holding an organising meeting on Tuesday 7 December at 7PM to plan next steps in their fights for equitable housing in Southwark. Join the Zoom meeting if you want to hear about and contribute to discussions on:
